How Cherry Wear Started
Devlin Player has been involved in the corporate clothing, golfing and promotional gifting industry since 1998. Henry Usmar has experience supplying mines, exploration drill rigs and industry with safety wear and personal protective equipment (PPE) since 2000. In 2007 they pitched a complete clothing solution (corporate clothing and workwear) to a company that managed Pick ‘n Pay’s distribution. When they were awarded the contract they opened Cherry Wear to “fund golf trips” as they both ran their own businesses.
By 2010 it was a fully fledged profitable business supplying a number of blue chip companies with a complete range of clothing. The head office is in Randburg, Johannesburg with a sales and distribution office in Glen Anil, Durban. Devlin and Henry are also shareholders in a Cape Town company, Lemongrass Promotions, who offer the same services and products covering the Western Cape.
Cherry Wear manufactures safety wear (conti suits, boiler suits, chef’s uniforms, heavy duty work shirts and trousers, jeans etc.) locally in KwaZulu Natal. Our golf shirts and other “client specific garments” are manufactured in Johannesburg. Cherry Wear has good relationships with companies that stock a wide range of corporate wear and are authorized resellers of the Cutter & Buck, Ahead, Slazenger, Gary Player and Elevate range to mention a few.
